Recent Changes
This is version 2.0 of the Neil Losin Photography website. I've added some new
features that you might find useful. There's a new more powerful search
function which allows you to search for images by locations (drilling down to
states and specific locations within states), or by taxonomic category
(drilling down through classes, orders, families, and species), or by other
category (subject, behavior, photo genre). There's also a build-your-own custom
search tool which allows you to combine various parameters so you can construct
your own queries.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can I use these images?
All of the images in this website are copyrighted original works by Neil Losin,
and they are protected by United States and international copyright law. Use of
any content from this site, for any purpose, is strictly forbidden without
express written permission from Neil Losin.
-
What about scholarly publications?
Please contact me if you wish to use one or more of
my images in a presentation, peer-reviewed paper, or book. Depending on the
intended use, the usual publication fees may be reduced or waived for scholarly
uses.
-
Some contact sheets take a long time to load, but others load more
quickly. Why?
The contact sheets vary a lot in size. Many are quite small (just a few
photos), but others are very large. The largest contains more than 600 photos.
The larger the contact sheet, the longer it will take to assemble it and render
the results in your browser.
-
Do you sell any of your photos?
I am happy to sell publication rights for editorial and commercial purchases. Contact me for details. I do not typically sell prints of my photographs because of the substantial time investment involved. If you are interested in a large print purchase, however, please contact me.
-
Why are you so concerned with the species names, families, orders, etc.?
Well, I'm a biologist as well as a photographer. And when it comes to birds,
I've been an avid birder for more than half my life. I think that my scientific
and aesthetic interests are complementary.
-
I think you've misidentified a species, or I've noticed an error in one
of your descriptions.
Please send me e-mail and tell me about it, and I
will make the correction.
